
How Reformer Pilates Helped Me

As a former professional athlete when I started my family I was always concerned about being able to return to sport. I was unsure of how or if I would be able to be a mum, continue to work, and also rebuild my strength. Having always practised mat-work Pilates I tried to keep this going throughout pregnancy and postpartum.
But I wanted something more. My mum told me to buy a Pilates Reformer machine for home, so I did. Best investment ever. The support and challenge of the machine allowed me to safely and accurately strengthen my core muscles and heal my body after birth. The versatility of the machine meant I could get an intense workout in only 20 minutes if I didn't have the time for a longer workout. Meaning I could fit in Pilates around my family and work life and I didn't have to leave the house to do it. I believe this really accelerated my recovery.
This meant I was able to return to high impact sports 11 months after having my second child. I can credit this achievement to my Pilates practise and investing in my own Pilates Reformer.
